PONTIANAK – Vice Governor of West Kalimantan, Drs. H. Ria Norsan, M.M., M.H., attended the opening of National Coordination Meeting o01n Disasters Mitigation 2021 at the Data Analytic Room. The President of Indonesia attended also the meeting virtually, Wednesday (3/3/2021).
The purpose of the meeting is enhancing the coordination and synergy toward the disaster mitigation. The theme of the meeting is “Toughness in Facing Disaster”.
In his remarks, President of State said that we have to work faster, in more innovative ways, as well as collaborate with all sides.
He added that Indonesia is the highest disaster risk in the world, as well as hydro meteorology and geology.
“Last year, we faced more than 3200 disasters with 9 disasters a day. It was not small number, but we have to face this challenge and problems,” he said.
The Seventh President of Indonesia also added that Indonesia was ranked first. It is because the larger population in Indonesia, the higher the risks of the victims.
“I see that the importance of mitigation and prevention measures is the key to minimizing disaster risks. I have mentioned about the aspect of prevention over and over again, don’t be late in taking action. We have to prepare disaster anticipation measures in a planned and detailed manner,” He emphasized.
President ordered national and regional policies established must be sensitive toward the disasters vulnerability and Indonesia has issued the master plan on Disasters Management for 2020-2024 in the Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2020.
“We just cannot hurriedly take actions only when a disaster hits us; make noise, moreover blame each other. The implementaion we make is the main thing that the people see,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Vice Governor of West Kalimantan explained that West Kalimantan is vulnerable to floods and landslides. However, West Kalimantan is facing the Land and Forest Fire. There was 500 hectares land fire.
“We are now facing the land and forest fire, where approximately 500 hectares are being burnt, and the widest part is Kubu Raya Regency, followed by Mempawah and Ketapang,” Vice Governor of West Kalimantan ended.
